With the release of Wuthering Waves 2.3 and the 1st ever Anniversary celebration, a special brand new Anniversary mixed banner lets players pick up some limited 5* characters they may have previously missed out on. Among the most interesting characters getting their rerun banner in the first half of the anniversary banner, Yinlin is perhaps one of the oldest yet still powerful characters. In this guide, we will go over everything players need to know about Yinlin’s playstyle, abilities, skills and how to build her with the best weapons, echo sets and team her up with the best teammates in order to maximize Yinlin’s full potential.

What we cover:
Yinlin Abilities Overview
Yinlin has strong AoE Electro damage output both on field and off field, in addition to her ability to boost not only other allies Electro damage but also Liberation Damage, Yinlin is a very strong Sub DPS/ Support character that holds up even almost 1 year since her release.
Rarity: 5-star| Element: Electro | Weapon: Rectifier
Yinlin’s main gimmick revolves around her and her puppet’s “Zap String” ability to inflict enemies with special “Sinners’ Marks” when doing dodge counters or attacking them. When an enemy is inflicted with “Sinners’ Mark”, they will take more damage from Yinlin’s abilities, skills and Resonance Liberation.
Yinlin’s main damaging output comes from her Forte Gauge effect, which allows her to accumulate Judgement Points when attacking enemies. Once the points have reached its max, Yinlin will unleash a devastating instance of Electro damage in a wide area, converting enemies’ “Sinners’ Mark” into “Punishing Mark'' and make it so that enemies with “Punishing Mark” will take constant Electro damage.
Yinlin’s Resonance Skill allows her to change her puppet into discharging Electro damage in a wide area and grants Yinlin the Magnetic State. While in this state, Yinlin’s damage output is massively increased and hitting enemies with “Sinners’ Mark '' will allow her to do additional damage.
Yinlin’s Resonance Liberation skill allows her to discharge a massive AOE Electro damage instance and links an enemy with her puppet. While the link exists, the enemy will always have “Sinners’ Mark”.
Upon using her outro skill, Yinlin will boost the Electro Damage dealt by allies and their Resonance Liberation damage by a large amount.
Yinlin Playstyle & Rotation
To maximize Yinlin’s damage output and team supporting capabilities there are certain rotation players need to keep in mind when using her skill kit:
Yinlin is a sub DPS character that heavily relies on her different marking mechanics, making her a very interesting character to manage. In addition, her damage output is on par with some of the top DPS characters when it comes to both on field and off field damage output from her Puppets, making it quite possible for players to prioritize her as a quick swap resonator in many different team compositions.
It is extremely important for players to use Yinlin’s normal attacks as much as possible on all enemies on the field when she takes the field in order to inflict the enemies with “Sinner Marks”. This status not only debuffs the enemies, making them take more damage from Yinlin’s attacks, but also is a semi-permanent status that will persist as long as Yinling herself or the enemy is alive. Inflicting the “Sinner Marks” onto the enemies with her attacks are extremely important as her “Punishing Mark” Forte Gauge ability can only be applied onto enemies with “Sinner Marks”
When playing Yinlin, players should focus on getting her energy as quickly as possible. The basic rotation for Yiinlin is as follows:
- Upon Yinlin taking the field, attack the enemies and gather them around her as much as possible to inflict “Sinner Marks” onto them and accumulate her Forte Gauge energy.
- Once Yinlin’s Forte Gauge is filled, hold her normal attack to attack all enemies and convert their “Sinner Marks” to “Punishing Marks”.
- Upon enemies being applied with “Punishing Marks”, use her Resonance Skill to deal AoE Electro Damage to every enemy with “Punishing Marks”.
- Finally, cap off her combo by using her Resonance Liberation to deal extreme powerful instances of Electro damage to all enemies and switch her out with another DPS character.
Yinlin Skill Upgrade Priorities
Yinlin’s main source of damage comes from her Forte Gauge and Resonance Skill, so they are of the highest priority for players to upgrade.
Forte Circuit = Resonance Skill > Resonance Liberation > Intro Skill > Normal Attack
However, if players want to play Yinlin as a sub DPS supporter Resonator, her Resonance Liberation is also highly recommended to be upgraded.
Her Intro Skill and Normal Attack are lower in priority, if players have spare materials, they can level them up to a certain degree as well.
Yinlin Best Teammates & Synergy
With her abilities to boost the overall damage of the team by boosting the Electro damage of allies with her outro skill and her ability to attack together with the main DPS even when she is off field, Yinlin is extremely suitable as a Sub DPS Supporter Resonator in many different teams, but she especially shines in teams that take advantage of her off field attacks, teams that deal Electro damage or relies on Liberation Damage.
Some of the strongest characters that can go together Yinlin in a team are:
Xiangli Yao:
Xiangli Yao is currently the game’s best Electro Main Dps character that can take full advantage of everything Yinlin has to offer from her kit. From her outro skill that boost Electro Damage and Liberation damage which Xiangli Yao can make full advantage off in order to deal massive amounts of damage, to Yinlin’s powerful off field damage supplementing his damage output in order to clear waves of enemies easily. He is also in the phase 1 of the Anniversary rerun banner.
Calcharo:
Similar to Xiangli Yao, Calcharo skill kit and abilities function similarly to how Xiangli Yao skill kit functions, with minor differences. However, Calcharo can also take full advantage of Yinlin’s abilities and buffs, making him a very good budget option if players do not have Xiangli Yao.
Shorekeeper:
As the premium healer character with powerful buffs for the entire team, Shorekeeper can be used in conjunction with Yinlin in various different teams to not only boost the overall damage output of the main DPS but also boost the damage output from Yinlin herself, allowing her to maximize the team damage.
Yinlin - Echoes & Weapons Recommendations
Echoes Sotana Set Recommendations
As Yinlin is an Electro Resonator, if players want to focus mainly on boosting Yinlin’s main damage while she is on the field, then the Void Thunder set is the natural recommended set for Yinlin.
However, as Yinlin’s skill kit makes her a more Sub DPS Supporter type of Resonator that does not need to be on the field for long period of time, players can also consider the Moonlit Clouds Sonata set for her in order to boost the team’s overall damage as well.
Echoes Main And Sub Stats Recommendation
For main and sub stats for Echoes, Yinlin will need a varied set of stats needed for her to shine her best as the team’s supporter while maintaining her own damage output.
The main stats that players should get are:
- 4 Cost Echo (Nightmare: Tempest Mephis): Crit Damage% / Crit Rate%
- 3 Cost Echoes: 1 Electro Damage% and 1 Energy Regen%
- 1 Cost Echoes: 3 Atk% Echoes
Recommended Sub Stats: Crit Rate% / Crit Damage% > Liberation Skill Damage% > Atk%
Weapon Recommendations
For Yinlin, her best in slot weapon is of course her signature weapon:
Stringmaster (5* Limited Weapon): All Resonance damage is increased by 12% . After casting Resonance Liberation or Outro Skill, the attack is increased by 12% , the effects are independent and can be stacked up to 12% layers, and the effect lasts for 2 seconds.
For alternatives, players can use these weapons as substitutes:
Cosmic Ripples (5* Permanent Weapon): Energy Regen is increased by 12.80% . When Basic Attack hits a target, Basic Attack Damage is increased by 3.20% . This effect can stack up to 5 time(s) and last for 8s.
Augment (4* Weapon): After casting Resonance Liberation, the self-attack increases by 15% , lasts for 15 seconds.
Conclusion
With the return of Yinlin in the upcoming Wuthering Waves Anniversary Character Rerun banner, despite being almost an entire year since her debut in the game’s very first update patch, Yinlin have hold up very well as a strong Sub DPS/ Support option for many different teams and especially for Electro and Liberation damage centric teams.
